DIY wooden car project for kids

Making a wooden car is a great DIY project for kids that promotes creativity and fine motor skills. Here’s how you can make a simple wooden car:

Materials:

  • Block of wood (pine or basswood)
  • Four small wooden wheels
  • Axles (can be nails or wooden dowels)
  • Paint and brushes
  • Sandpaper
  • Hammer and drill (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut your block of wood to the desired length of the car.
  2. Sand the edges and surfaces of the block to remove any rough spots or splinters.
  3. Using a hammer or drill, create holes in the block for the axles. Make sure the holes are evenly spaced and straight.
  4. Insert the axles into the holes, making sure they fit tightly. If necessary, use glue to secure them in place.
  5. Attach the wooden wheels to the axles.
  6. Let your child paint the car in their preferred color and design.
  7. Once the paint is dry, the wooden car is ready to be played with.

Note: For younger children, adult supervision and assistance may be required during the drilling and hammering process.
