Building a simple wooden stool with your kids

Building a simple wooden stool with your kids can be a fun and rewarding DIY project. Here are some steps to follow:

Materials:

  • 2×2 inch piece of lumber (for legs and supports)
  • 1×12 inch piece of lumber (for seat)
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Saw
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint or stain (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut the 2×2 inch lumber into four equal-length pieces for the legs. Cut four more pieces to the desired length for the supports that will connect the legs.
  2. Sand the legs and supports until they are smooth.
  3. Arrange the legs in a square or rectangle shape and attach the supports to the legs with screws. Make sure the supports are evenly spaced and level.
  4. Cut the 1×12 inch lumber to the desired size for the seat. Sand the edges until they are smooth.
  5. Attach the seat to the top of the supports with screws.
  6. Sand the entire stool until it is smooth.
  7. If desired, paint or stain the stool and allow it to dry completely before use.
  8. Enjoy your new stool with your kids!

Note: Adult supervision is recommended when using saws and drills.
