Making a DIY kaleidoscope can be a fun and educational project for kids. Here’s how to do it:
Materials:
- Cardboard tube (such as from a paper towel or wrapping paper roll)
- Mirrors (cut into small squares)
- Colored beads or other small objects
- Clear plastic (such as from a sandwich bag)
- Glue
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut the cardboard tube to the desired length for the kaleidoscope.
- Cut a small piece of clear plastic and glue it to one end of the tube.
- Cut three small squares of mirror and glue them inside the tube at a slight angle to each other, creating a triangle.
- Drop in some colored beads or other small objects.
- Glue another piece of clear plastic to the other end of the tube.
- Decorate the outside of the kaleidoscope as desired.
To use the kaleidoscope, hold it up to your eye and rotate it to see the changing patterns created by the mirrors and objects inside.
