Building a DIY teepee can be a fun and engaging project to do with your kids. Here are the steps to follow:
Materials:
- 4 long wooden dowels (around 6 feet in length)
- Twine or strong rope
- A large piece of fabric (canvas or sturdy cotton)
- Scissors
- Sewing machine or needle and thread
Instructions:
- Take the four wooden dowels and tie them together at the top with a piece of twine or strong rope.
- Spread out the dowels so that they form a teepee shape, with the tied end at the top and the bottoms of the dowels spread out in a circle.
- Tie another piece of twine or rope around the dowels, about 6-12 inches from the top, to hold them in place.
- Take your large piece of fabric and cut it into a half-circle shape, with a diameter of around 12 feet.
- Sew the straight edge of the fabric to create a seam.
- Place the fabric over the teepee frame, with the curved edge of the fabric at the top and the straight edge at the bottom.
- Wrap the fabric around the dowels and use twine or rope to tie it securely in place.
- Cut a small slit in the fabric on one side of the teepee, about halfway up from the bottom, to create a doorway.
Your DIY teepee is now complete! You can decorate it with pillows, blankets, and string lights to make it cozy and inviting.
